Micro Enterprise Survey on Automotive and Metal Parts Manufacturers

Young Consultants (YC) was engaged by a Japanese consultant, Mr. Takayuki Shimizu, to conduct a micro-enterprise survey of automotive and metal parts manufacturers in Bangladesh. The study aimed to assess the current business performance of enterprises in these two sectors, examine employment and job creation opportunities, identify key business challenges, and explore potential solutions to address those challenges. The assignment involved primary data collection and the preparation of an analytical report based on the survey findings.

Scope of Services Provided
1. Survey Preparation

Prepared the survey implementation plan and coordinated the activities required to conduct the micro-enterprise survey.

2. Questionnaire Development

Developed a structured questionnaire to collect relevant information on business performance, employment opportunities, operational challenges, and potential solutions within the automotive and metal parts manufacturing sectors.

3. Enumerator Training

Trained enumerators to ensure a consistent understanding of the survey questionnaire, data collection procedures, and fieldwork requirements.

4. Pilot Survey and Questionnaire Refinement

Conducted a pilot survey to test the questionnaire and identify areas requiring improvement. Revised the questionnaire based on the pilot survey experience to strengthen its clarity and suitability for the main survey.

5. Main Survey Implementation

Conducted the main survey among automotive and metal parts manufacturers in Dhaka and the surrounding areas, collecting primary data to support the assessment of business conditions and sector-specific challenges.
