JICA Bangladesh Office decided to
conduct a survey on the demographic trend of the middle-income class in
Bangladesh, and their trend of consumption of durable goods and services with
the methods of economic and statistical analysis and field-based interviews. The
main objective of the survey was to grasp the demographic trend of the emerging
middle-income class in the urban areas of Bangladesh, their current economic
and social living situation, and their trend of consumption of various durable
goods and services, and to estimate the current- and future market size of such
durable goods and services, and suggest how such a market should be
developed in Bangladesh, based on the abovementioned information. Young
Consultants was assigned by JICA to conduct the survey.
