Clients:
Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL), Netherlands Development Organization (SNV), National Domestic Biogas and Manure Program (NDBMP)
Duration:
April 2009-July 2009

The overall objective of the NDBMP was to further develop and disseminate domestic biogas in rural areas with the ultimate goal of establishing a sustainable and commercial biogas sector in Bangladesh. In line with the key expected results as identified in the original plan, the NDBMP needed to undertake a Users’ Survey at the field level from time to time in order to evaluate and monitor the performance and achievement of the
key indicators of the program.

  • The survey made a comprehensive assessment by:
  • Measuring important direct and indirect benefits
  • Assessing various impacts of biogas technology on energy, emission reduction and environment, health and sanitation, and the agriculture system
  • Evaluating the technical soundness
  • Identifying climate change, and the workload of women and children
  • Measuring the socio-economic effects on the users
