Prospective Market for Bio-Fertilizer in Bangladesh

Young Consultants (YC) was commissioned by Nanum Co. Ltd., a South Korean bio-fertilizer manufacturer, to assess the market potential for bio-fertilizers in Bangladesh. The study aimed to identify market opportunities, constraints, and the factors influencing demand and supply, including forward and backward linkages within the industry.

The assignment covered Dhaka and its surrounding districts, particularly Gazipur, Manikganj, and Munshiganj. YC designed the study in accordance with the Terms of Reference, selected survey areas, conducted desk research, and developed questionnaires in consultation with the client.

The study included market analysis, SWOT analysis, demand-and-supply gap assessment, and competitive analysis to evaluate the current market situation and future prospects of bio-fertilizers in Bangladesh.

To gather primary information, YC conducted field surveys, key informant interviews with organic fertilizer producers, manufacturers, and relevant associations, and focus group discussions with bio-fertilizer and chemical fertilizer users. These activities helped identify market conditions, user perspectives, and potential barriers to wider adoption.

Based on the research findings, YC submitted a draft report and a final report incorporating the study’s observations and conclusions. The assessment provided the client with insights to support its understanding of the Bangladeshi bio-fertilizer market and potential business opportunities.
