Young Consultants (YC) conducted a study for English in Action to examine the relationship between communicative English language skills and access to improved employment opportunities and higher education. The study aimed to assess how English proficiency could support career advancement, enhance employability, and expand opportunities for students seeking admission to higher education institutions, including those overseas.
The research also explored the potential role of English language competence in shaping Bangladesh’s labour migration patterns and increasing access to international educational opportunities. It sought to generate evidence on how improved communication skills could contribute to better educational and professional prospects.
YC prepared a detailed work plan and organized the study team to conduct the socio-economic assessment. The firm undertook desk research on educational conditions in Bangladesh, developed structured questionnaires, and collected primary data from students. The research also incorporated key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and case studies to gather insights from relevant stakeholders and understand students’ experiences and aspirations.
Following the research, YC analyzed the collected information and prepared a report based on the survey findings. The firm also supported the dissemination of study results through report distribution and information-sharing activities, helping communicate the findings to relevant stakeholders.
