Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority
(BEZA), established under the Bangladesh Economic Zones Act 2010, had taken
initiatives to promote Economic Zones in different locations of the country. BEZA,
under a technical assistance collaboration project, funded by JICA, had
commissioned a study titled “Enterprise Survey on the potential investment in the
upcoming Economic Zones (EZ) in Bangladesh”.

The study aimed to help support data collection on the potential demand for
investment and assess the needs of prospective Japanese and other foreign
investors as well as local investors in investment promotion projects. The findings
of the study would help facilitate the required support for the development of the
EZs and their surrounding infrastructures under JICA assistance. The existing
and prospective investors in the upcoming EZs would be interviewed to identify
their target fields of investment, and requirements for their support services. To
accomplish the study, the Consortium of World Business Associates Co. Limited
(WBA), and Young Consultants (YC), a local consulting firm specialized in the EZ
development in Bangladesh, had been engaged.
