Clients:
Ministry of Commerce, People’s Republic of Bangladesh and World Bank
Duration:
7 December 2019-7 January 2020

Young Consultants successfully executed a multi-year project on behalf of The Ministry of Commerce of the Government of The People's Republic of Bangladesh, operating as a local consortium partner under the banner 'Export Competitiveness for Jobs', in collaboration with the World Bank. This endeavor aimed to bolster growth and competitiveness across four key labor-intensive sectors: Leather and Leather Goods, Footwear (both leather and non-leather), Light Manufacturing, and Plastics, where Bangladesh holds a distinct comparative advantage.

The project strategically deployed matching grant-based incentives to facilitate access to crucial resources such as advisory services, training programs, and specialized equipment. These resources empowered firms to effectively address challenges related to Environment, Social, and Quality (ESQ) compliance, thereby enhancing their overall competitiveness.

A significant milestone in this initiative was marked by the Inauguration Ceremony of the Export Readiness Fund (ERF), symbolizing the commencement of this transformative endeavor. Former Commerce Minister of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh Mr. Tipu Munshi graced the ceremony as chief guest.
