JICA Bangladesh decided to conduct a
survey on the local needs for BOP businesses in Bangladesh. This survey is
intended to clarify the living situation of BOP households and the local market
situation with the methods of economic and statistical analyses and field-based
interviews. The main objective of the study also included: (1) Grasping the
demographic trend of the BOP households at each division, (2) Identifying the

current economic and social living situations of BOP households, and (3)
Clarifying the features of the institutions & their services which the BOP
households were accessing. For these purposes, Young Consultants was
assigned by JICA to conduct the survey in two phases in 6 months.
